Movie Review: Captain America - The Winter Soldier
Marvel has had some awesome films throughout the past few years, with the Ironman series, to the Avengers. "Captain America - The Winter Soldier" is definitely one of their best.
The story is about Steve Rogers (aka Captain America) trying to fit into modern society after being defrosted from the first movie. He is sent on a mission to save a S.H.E.I.L.D vessel that was taken over by bad guys. Shortly after, Roger realizes that there was another reason he was sent on this mission, to help Black Widow retrieve some data files that were on the ship. Frustrated, Rogers confronts Nick Fury for answers, and is later informed about a secret mission called Project Insight. After things get out of hand, Captain America finds himself in a battle between trust and truth, while also having to deal with a foreign threat called The Winter Soldier.
I have to tip my hat to Marvel for this one. They really know how to make a good sequel. To start things off, I'd like to make a few points about the flow of the film. Some movies like to rush things, which can then ruin the entire experience. Then, there are films that like to take things really slow. This can make a movie really boring, and uninteresting. But when it comes to this movie, you get a perfect flow. I mean, the film makes so many awesome transitions from suspense, to action, to problem-solving, to calm, and then back to action. It's great, and it makes the film as a whole a lot more enjoyable.
As far as acting goes, I have no problem with what I got. Chris Evans steals the show as Captain America, the beautiful Scarlett Johansson does a fantastic job as the black widow, and Samuel Jackson does great as being Nick Fury once again. Absolutely no complaints.
Unpredictability played a big role on why I liked the film so much. It was awesome not knowing who was behind this master scheme. I ended up being wrong in every guess I had, and that didn't bother me at all. The script of the film was completely understandable and easy to follow. However, there is one more key detail that I think made this movie so awesome. It was the evolution of Captain America.
If you've seen the first film, or The Avengers, then you already know how C.A (Captain America) is. He's a nice guy, very smart and vigilant., However, in this movie, it was the first time that you'd see C.A at his absolute best. If there was one way that I could sum up Captain America, it would be badass. He fights with honor and precision, but in this film, you could see that there was more to this battle than any other battle he's ever fought in. For those of you that love action, I can happily say that this is the movie for you. C.A fights more in this movie than the first one and The Avengers COMBINED. It's awesome to see him grow as a person, and as a soldier.
If you're a diehard Marvel fan, "Captain America - The Winter Soldier" won't disappoint you one bit. It has everything a fan would want in the movie, and a whole lot more. Even if you're not a huge Marvel fan, this film is highly recommended for a ton of action, great suspense, and an awesome story. I'm sure some of you may have noticed that I didn't mention any flaws with the film. Why? Let's just say that the flaws were as small as an atom.
Overall: 10/10
