Movie Review: X-Men: Days Of Future Past
I must admit, 2014 has been an incredible year for comic-book films. From Captain America 2, all the way to The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it's just been an awesome year. One thing that both films have in common is that they both got a 10/10 as their overall score. For those of you who don't like spoilers, SPOILER ALERT: You're looking at another 10/10.
The story takes place after the previous film, X-Men: The Last Stand. Wolverine, Storm, Professor X, and Magneto are trying to fight off a machine known as the Sentinals. These machines are able to adapt to a mutant's power, and use it against them. It's prime directive is to eliminate all mutants. In an effort to stop this from ever happening, Wolverine has to consciously go to the past so he can stop this war from ruining the future.
To start things off, the film tells an incredible story, and does it right. The mere concept that a person has to go to the past to stop a battle in the future is awesome alone. However, it's more than that. Wolverine has the responsibility to convince young Professor X and Magneto to work together to save their future. Not only does the flow of the film stay steady and consistent, but it also stays fresh. It keeps the viewer's attention, and it does it the right way,
I don't think I need to mention how stellar the cast was. After all, we've seen most of them in many of the prequels. If you've seen any of the prior X-Men movies, the actors/actresses won't disappoint you one bit. They play their respective roles just as good as they have before.
I think the biggest reason this film is so enjoyable, is how it doesn't just focus on just one character. The film centers on multiple characters, and their individual stories. It kept the movie entertaining and interesting, constantly changing pace without being too overbearing.
Overall, X-Men: Days Of Future Past was fantastic. It may very well be the best film of the year so far, from what I've seen. I apologize for the review being so short and sweet. I've been extremely busy lately and haven't had much time to work on some things on the site. But summer is around the corner...thank goodness.
Overall: 10/10
